Uldis Kokars

Uldis Kokars is a conductor with excellent professional education. Uldis Kokars has received a master degree in choral conducting and have also graduated from symphonic orchestra conducting class. Presently Uldis Kokars is teaching choral and orchestral conducting in Jazeps Medins Music College. Previously he has worked as music pedagogue in Riga Dome Choir School. Uldis Kokars has presented conducting master classes in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, France and Japan and has served as chief conductor in many local and international choir festivals.

From 2000 to 2013 Uldis Kokars served as artistic director and chief conductor of Latvia’s famous professional chamber choir Riga Chamber Choir Ave Sol. Ave Sol has given 650 concerts in Europe, Asia and North America and taken part in 38 international festivals in a guest star status.

Currently Uldis Kokars is artistic director and chief conductor of Latvia University male choir Dziedonis. Under leadership of Uldis Kokars, in 2018 choir contest Dziedonis was awarded the highest prize for Latvian choirs – the Grand Prix of the Latvian Song Festival.


Uldis Kokars is producer, publisher and promoter of Anthology of Latvian Choral Music that contains 12 song score volumes and an 12 illustrative music CDs. The Anthology of Latvian Choral Music is listed in many of world’s largest music libraries in Japan, the USA, Austria, UK and Germany.
